Built up area: 32,810 m2

The new icon of the Barcelona vanguard, the corporate headquarters of Telefónica in Catalonia, was backed by El Consorci through a turnkey project settled with this multinational company.

At the seaward end of Diagonal avenue and at its intersection with Taulat street, this white and slender tower stands out through its luminosity and capitalises on what is almost a scenic location within the cityscape: can be spotted from anywhere, especially from the coastline. It was designed by architect Enric Massip-Bosch according to energy and bioclimatic efficiency criteria.

It has a rhomboid base and reaches a height of 110 meters, spread over 24 floors with spacious and airy interior spaces – 24,190 m2 above ground and 8,621 m2 below ground -.

The building houses 1,200 of the company’s employees and is Telefónica’s R&D centre. In turn, it opens up to the city through the lobby and ground floor, featuring a shop, a restaurant, an auditorium (over 300 seats) and a technology show room.

Telefónica Diagonal 00 tower has won several awards: among others, it won a 2011 Leaf Award, in the category of Best Commercial Building of the Year; as well as the Catalunya Construcció 2012 prize; and was a finalist in the Emporis Awards for the Best New Skyscraper 2010.

In 2014 El Consorci opened up the sale of the Diagonal 00 tower through public auction. At the end of the sale process, in which over 60 investors, most of them international, expressed interest, Telefónica de España, SA decided to exercise its right of first refusal and was granted the acquisition of the property for 107.1 million euros, matching the amount of the final offer.
