Built up area: 296,991 m2
Mollet del Vallès is located on the first metropolitan ring, 15 minutes from Barcelona, and has excellent communication links: AP-7, C-33, C-58, C-17 and C-59.
It is a medium-sized town (population 53,000) with its own distinctive character. Thanks to the development of new urban spaces and the conversion of obsolete spaces, it has become a benchmark for other municipalities in the region.
The area called El Calderí is still to be developed and integrated into the urban centre. It will probably be the last major urban and commercial development in the Vallès region. One of the first projects designed will provide a 56,000 m2 retail and leisure floor area at the south-west end of the sector. This location will make the shopping centre a gateway into and out of the city.
El Consorci owns, along with a partner, in undivided shares, properties which make up a total area of 149,933 m2 of land. Other plots belong to the Mollet Town Hall (approx. 12,600 m2) and three investors (10,000 and 25,000 m2). The remainder is divided among several small owners.
In December 2011, under a municipal urban improvement plan, modifications were approved for a total floor area of 157,910 m2, to be distributed as follows : residential (90,000 m2), commercial and retail at ground floor level (12,000 m2), commercial entertainment and dining (55,910 m2).
In the course of 2014, modifications were put forward for the Plan Parcial (Partial Plan) which had already been approved to adapt it to the latest amendment to the municipal urban improvement plan.
