Barcelona, 24 May 2017The second edition of Inmotecnia Rent, the new technologies exhibition for Estate Agents, Developers and SMEs, ended today with excellent sales and visitor numbers. The event, organised by El Consorci de la Zona Franca in Barcelona through its subsidiary Barcelona Meeting Point, the API Collective (Real Estate Collective) and the NEWTECH company through the RENT exhibition, welcomed more than 1,300 professional visitors and more than 60 exhibitors.

“Our greatest success has been the overall satisfaction of our exhibitors and visitors,” said Jordi Cornet, Special Delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca. “For two days, Real Estate Agents, developers and SMEs were exposed to the latest technological advances available to boost their businesses. Inmotecnia Rent, with its conferences and more than 60 exhibiting companies that participated in the trade show, was an excellent instrument for this.”

“Real estate professionals were excited to learn about the new technologies available to their businesses”, explained Sergi Lago, CEO of homes.ag. “We selected the best big data technologies, virtual tours, blockchain platforms, for example, for real estate professionals to use effectively. Professionals don’t have time, so we do the groundwork for them,” explained Lago. The service is becoming increasingly popular and well-known within the sector. “Every month we double our business, and between 15 and 20 agents join every month,” said Lago. This number is not surprising when you consider that PropTech companies have created more than 4,000 jobs in Spain in five years, according to real estate portal idealista. A total of 10,627 real estate, financial and insurance companies opened in 2017, that is 29.7% more than in the previous year, according to the INE.Inmotecnia Rent was held in Hall 1 at Fira de Barcelona, attracting exhibiting companies of all kinds from technology sectors such as virtual reality, big data, 3D construction, home automation, real estate websites, peer to peer, image, digital signage, management platforms, fintech, drones, etc. “We needed an exhibition like this. It’s the future of the real estate sector,” said Francisco Morán, President of Compropiso. “PropTech is revolutionising the sector and reducing production costs”.

This growth was plain to see at Inmotecnia Rent. The level of influx and quality is far higher this year than it was last year,” said Francisco Morán, president of Compropiso. “We are making a lot of agreements and networking a lot“, he explained. According to Morán, “PropTech is revolutionising and reducing production costs”. That’s why he believes that a trade fair like this one is “essential, because PropTech is the future of the real estate sector”. Another company that noticed growth in the event was Disseny, which presented virtual reality (VR) at Inmotecnia Rent. “Last year we presented two projects at Inmotecnia Rent and this year we have eleven,” explained Jaime Ripoll, Senior Business Development Manager at the company. “These days, the sector is firmly committed to virtual reality,” says Ripoll. One of the most veteran technology sectors within the real estate world is websites. They are also the most numerous in the Spanish PropTech sector, 25% of the total, according to a study by Savills Aguirre Newman and Finnovating. “Websites were most disruptive within the sector 20 years ago,” explains Ferran Font, director of studies of pisos.com. “Once again, we are experiencing a moment when technology is getting another opportunity to change the way we work in the sector,” continued Font, according to whom “we just had to be at Inmotecnia Rent”.

The trade show also hosted BIM companies (Building Information Modelling) like BIM6D. “We design applications for virtual constructions. We make it incredibly easy for developers and builders to be able to explore models designed by architects to view and access all the user data, furniture, materials, construction dates,” explained Fernando Morales, CEO of BIM6D. “This technology will be mandatory in Spain at the end of the year, but people are still not aware of it, he adds.

Real estate websites, virtual reality, 3D, peer to peer, big data, image… technology companies involved in Inmotecnia Rent cover all aspects of digital technology applied to the real estate sector. In another part of the exhibition, one pillar of Inmotecnia Rent was its two-day conference schedule during which speakers shared the keys on how to become more efficient in marketing and sales. Among the outstanding presentations were by James Dearsely, CEO at The Digital Marketing Bureau and PropTech Influencer; Juan Merodio, Blogger, Speaker & International Advisor in Marketing and Digital transformation in the company, Godefoy Jordan, Co-founder and CEO of Smarthab, Silvia Leal, international expert in e-leadership, digital transformation and innovation, Matthew Ferrara, photographer, consultant and international keynote speaker, among others.

The programme also featured case studies of PropTech companies, such as Altamira, when Elena Ger explained how her company manages real estate sales through Amazon. Jeanne Masa explained how the Habiteo bus works for viewing 3D homes. Mireia Garcia spoke about how the innovation department at Forcadell conducted a survey among residents to discover which types of business they would prefer to see in empty premises to speed up sales, while Cristina Ontoso spoke about the Via Célere sensory offices, where clients use all five senses to experience their future homes.

In short, reactions to the second edition of Inmotecnia Rent have been very positive. Jordi Cornet thanked all authorities, La Salle Technova, which managed the start-ups area at the show, exhibitors, visitors and the media, the city of Barcelona for their collaboration and enthusiastic participation, and co-organizers, the API Collective and NEWTECH which helped to make this second edition of Inmotecnia Rent such a success.
